This spiral flute tap cuts metric internal threads in metal and pulls chips up and out of the hole, which makes it the right choice for blind holes. It is made of HSS 6542 high speed steel (supplier-listed) with a TiN or nano blue coating, in sizes from M2 x 0.4 to M12 x 1.75, sold as a single tap.
How It's Used
Drill the correct tap drill size, then run the tap in a tapping machine, drill press or tap wrench with cutting fluid. The spiral flutes lift chips toward the shank so they don't pack at the bottom of a blind hole.

FAQ
Spiral flute or straight flute?
Spiral flute taps push chips back out of the hole, so they work best in blind holes. Straight flute taps are a general choice for through holes.
What does M8 x 1.25 mean?
M8 is the 8mm thread diameter and 1.25 is the thread pitch in millimeters. M8 x 1.25 is the standard coarse pitch; M8 x 1.0 is fine pitch.
