This left hand tap and die set pairs one machine plug tap with one thread die in the same metric size, so you can cut or chase a left hand (reverse) thread inside a hole and on a rod or bolt. Choose from 16 sizes between M3 and M20, including fine pitches.

Left hand threads tighten counterclockwise. They are used on parts that would loosen under normal rotation, such as some grinder and saw arbors, pedals, axle nuts and turnbuckles. Match both the diameter and the pitch of the part you are working on.

Good to know

A tap wrench and a die stock (die handle) are needed to turn the tools and are not included. Use cutting oil and back the tool off often to break the chip.

FAQ

How do I know if a thread is left hand?
Hold the bolt upright: left hand threads slope up to the left. A left hand nut tightens when turned counterclockwise.

What is the difference between M12 x 1.75 and M12 x 1.25?
Both are 12 mm in diameter. 1.75 mm is the coarse (standard) pitch; 1.25 mm is a fine pitch with more threads per length. Measure the pitch of your part before ordering.
