This metric round threading die (also called a button die) cuts new right hand external threads on rod and studs and cleans up damaged threads on bolts. Choose from 48 sizes from M1 to M14 in coarse and fine pitches, from tiny M1x0.25 for model and instrument work up to M14x2.0.
Use it in a die stock (die handle) for hand threading, or in a die holder on a lathe.

How to read the size
M10x1.5 means a 10mm thread diameter with 1.5mm between threads. The standard (coarse) ISO pitches are M3x0.5, M4x0.7, M5x0.8, M6x1.0, M8x1.25, M10x1.5, M12x1.75 and M14x2.0; the other pitches listed are fine threads, common on automotive, bicycle and precision parts.
FAQ
Can it cut new threads or only repair them?
Both. On plain rod of the matching diameter it cuts a new thread; on a bolt with damaged threads it re-cuts and cleans the existing thread of the same size and pitch.
Which pitch do I need?
Match the nut or tapped hole. If you are unsure, measure the distance between threads with a thread pitch gauge, or start from the coarse pitch for that diameter, which is the most common.
